Welcome to CSB 118!  This lab is equipped with 18 PCs.  It’s also a proctored lab so help with software and hardware is available whenever there is a proctor on duty.  Right next door in CSB119, is a “dual boot” Mac lab, equipped with 16 iMac computers.  These adjoining labs have two high-speed printers and a digital sender for your convenience as well.

The IMacs’ dual-boot capability allows users to choose their operating system; either Microsoft’s “Windows 7″ or Apple’s “Snow Leopard.”  On the Windows side of the iMacs, you’ll find the features and software normally installed on PCs in other public labs (SPSS, Mathematica, Office, etc.).  On the Mac side, you’ll find the iLife Suite, Adobe Creative Suite and, of course, Microsoft Office applications.

Like a Windows PC, the iMacs turn on with just a touch of a button.  But unlike a Windows PC, that button (the power button) isn’t located on the front — it’s hidden around the back of the monitor on the left side.  So remember — when using an iMac, “think different.”

And also remember to show up early if you want to get a seat because these labs have a tendency to be used quite heavily.
