Junk Email / SPAM information

Information about SPAM

At SUNY New Paltz, we use a Virus and Junk E-mail filtering system for all our e-mail accounts. Any message that has a virus detected inside of it is discarded. Any message that is detected as being Junk E-mail (or Spam) will have [SPAM] placed at the beginning of each message.

No Spam filter is perfect. If you get any legitimate messages that are incorrectly marked as Spam, please forward the entire message (within five days of receiving it) to: notspam@newpaltz.edu

If you get any spam messages that are not marked as such, please forward them to: spam@newpaltz.edu

There are also a small number of servers that have been completely blocked from sending e-mail to the campus. These servers have all sent hundreds of spam messages to our users in a short amount of time. If a user from one of these servers tries to send a message to a newpaltz.edu user, they will get a message notifying them of how to get the block removed.
