E-mail forwarding
E-mail is considered an official means of communication with students of
SUNY New Paltz. All students are assigned an official college e-mail
account while they are registered for courses, and are expected to check
this account on a frequent basis.
The college does offer the capability to forward e-mail from a college
e-mail address to another e-mail address. However, the college does not
recommend this. The college will only support the college e-mail system
provided to students and is not responsible for the handling of e-mail
by outside services. Students are not absolved from the
responsibilities associated with communications sent to their official
college e-mail address if e-mail forwarding results in the loss of
e-mail messages.
- Login to NPMail
- Click on Mail Control at the top
- Enter your outside e-mail address in the Redirect All Mail to box
- Check the Enable and Preserve To/Cc fields boxes
- Press Update
- The system does not check whether your address is valid. Send yourself a test message (to your @newpaltz.edu address) once you have it setup to make sure you entered your outside e-mail address correctly. If it is setup correctly, you should get that forwarded message at your outside e-mail address (the delivery time depends on the speed of the outside servers and will vary from a second or two to an hour or more).
PLEASE NOTE: We HIGHLY recommend that you do not forward your mail to
hotmail.com or msn.com e-mail addresses. Users have reported that they
have been unreliable for forwarded mail in the past.
